Positive dog training will improve your relationship with your dog

Your dog is more than a pet, it is a member of the family. From the day you bring your canine home, a new relationship begins. Training is one way to ensure everyone is healthy and happy. A well mannered dog is appreciated in any community.
When I first brought my pup home, I knew I would have my hands full. She was a bundle of never ending energy, ready to play at a given notice. Ready to chew on anything too! If it was on the floor, it was fair game.
That was when I decided to begin dog training at home. She was easy to “potty train”, but the chewing was a different story. Getting her to leave my shoes and table legs alone was frustrating.
I understand a dog needs to chew, especially when they are teething, so off to the pet store I went, and found some toys she preferred over my table legs. Whenever she went for a toy she would get high praise. This is positive dog training, and it is effective.
Reinforcing good behavior is the key when training your dog. If they see you are happy and they are rewarded, they will always seek your praises. Dogs are like children in this way. Your relationship with your dog will thrive using positive reinforcement.
My pooch loves treats, and this is one way to reward good behavior. Just be sure not to over-do it. I offer rewards only when practicing positive dog training. This ensures that my best friend will not become bored.
Once your canine friend has the basics down, such as sit, stay, etc, you may want to consider enrolling you both into an advanced dog training course. If you are planning to enter your dog in shows, this is a must.
Advanced dog training will take your relationship with your dog to the next level, and soon you will see a marked improvement in how he/she interacts with other dogs and their owners.
Finding a good school should be easy, as kennel clubs are expanding all of the time, and more owners are taking an interest in doing more than dog training at home.
Once I enrolled my best friend in a teaching course, I was amazed at how quickly she caught on to more complex commands. She learned how to ignore the distractions around her and focus her attention on me.
We were doing tricks I thought were impossible! Using positive dog training to reinforce what she was learning has shown me just how effective it really is. I use the same treats each time. She comes to expect them.
I have enjoyed every minute of our training sessions, watching her grow into an amazing athlete as well. She loves the attention and praise. I can tell her confidence is at the top by the way she holds her head up high in the ring.
I highly recommend advanced dog training for anyone, even if you do not plan to show your dog. It will bring you closer together, and it is a rewarding experience for both.
